Since Cristiano trains and plays in Europe for both Real Madrid and the Portuguese national team, a major challenge for his managers was his extremely limited availability to support branding efforts on this side of the Atlantic.
We designed and built a brand new official destination for the Americas that would be easy to keep current with the latest news and media. It encouraged fans to find and follow Cristiano on his social channels. During the life of this site, he had the most Facebook fans of anyone in the world.
Our solution brought Cristiano's latest posts, videos, photos, schedule, scores, and downloadable apps together in a quick-loading, motion-filled experience powered by the latest HTML5 and CSS techniques. From WhoSay to Twitter, content was aggregated from the social networks that he and his team were already active on every day – making it easy to automatically populate the site in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Best of all, the site could be kept up to date without constant, difficult-to-schedule meetings between Cristiano's management groups in California and Spain.
During a brief run in 2011–2012, the official site we built outperformed its European counterpart (where Cristiano has a much larger fan base) in Google page rank.
As of this year, Cristiano's latest European website is now being used for the Americas, but we were incredibly honored to have designed and built a digital home for world's biggest soccer star.
